Food WarsIn 2008, 180 countries declared that their citizens have a fundamental right to food. Only one country voted against this rudimentary right. Can you guess which country that was?How can the proclaimed land of the free and home of the brave justify such a mean spirited decision? And is it in the best interests of their citizens or in the best interests of someone else? Instead the United States made it's intentions perfectly clear and voted against the right to food for it's citizens. There is no right to food in the USA, nor is there any right to food legislation pending. Pretty simple isn't it? I'm wondering if the USA's refusal to participate in The Universal Declarion of Human Rights provoked the growing grassroots right to food movement and the real food revolution? Is the war on food just beginning to heat up? Right To Food DefinitionThe Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations General Assemply in 1948 affirmed the right of everyone to an adequate standard of living, including adequate food. This has become the pillar of accepted international human rights law.In it's simplicity, Article 25 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: "everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food." International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights In article 11, "Governments recognize the right of everyone to an adequate standard of living for himself and his family, including adequate food and the continuous improvement of living conditions." "Governments are responsible for providing access to adequate food to eliminate hunger, malnutrition and starvation." UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food clarified that "the right to have regular, permanent and unrestricted access, either directly or by means of financial purchases, to quantitatively and qualitatively adequate and sufficient food corresponding to the cultural traditions of the people to which the consumer belongs, and which ensure a physical and mental, individual and collective, fulfilling and dignified life free of fear." Every Human Being Has: (except US citizens) * the right: to be free from hunger * the right to adequate food * the right to clean, safe drinking water Rome Declaration on World Food Security, 1996. "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Food security is achieved "when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life" Do you see any reason why the United States would be against these basic principles of human rights? Maybe if we explore the facts a bit more we'll begin to understand their intentions. What Is Food?Food is grown. If it's manufactured, then it is false food or a food like substance. According to Wiki Food is any substance or materials eaten or drunk to provide nutritional support for the body or for pleasure. It usually consists of plant or animal origin, that contains essential nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals.Using this definition much of the false factory food like substances would fail to meet the nutritional support for the body definition, wouldn't it? Healthy food is either pure, unprocessed, healthy, natural food, without additives, extenders, fillers, coloring, chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, steroids, antibiotics, cloning, pasteurization, irradiation or it's a "food-like-substance" and not adequate for natural health. Lesson To Identify Food * it is grown and has quality that varies * it spoils quickly * will reproduce from seed, spore etc * can be eaten raw or cooked * does not have ingredient labels * flavorful, with rich colors, textures * ancient traditions include eating this food  Food As A WeaponDuring conflicts food has been used to control populations. It is a powerful motivator. Withholding food from civilian populations intentionally causes starvation. It will help explain why Big Dairy, backed by tax payer dollars, is desperate to eliminate the superior competition by outlawing raw milk. FDA's War On Real FoodFarm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund recently filed a lawsuit against the FDA over their raw milk ban, claiming that the interstate commerce ban of raw milk is unconstitutional and here is how FDA responded."There is no absolute right to consume or feed children any particular food." "There is no 'deeply rooted' historical tradition of unfettered access to foods of all kinds." "Plaintiffs' assertion of a 'fundamental right to their own bodily and physical health, which includes what foods they do and do not choose to consume for themselves and their families' is similarly unavailing because plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to obtain any food they wish." FDA's brief goes on to state that "even if such a right did exist, it would not render FDA's regulations unconstitutional because prohibiting the interstate sale and distribution of unpasteurized milk promotes bodily and physical health." "There is no fundamental right to freedom of contract." Did you catch all of that? According to the FDA, they have the authority to tell you what you can and can't eat and what you can or can't feed your family and children. We have no right to make contracts without the FDA's permission. Based on those faulty assumption and flawed logic, the FDA believes thay have the absolute authority to prohibt any food and make it a crime for you to enjoy it. The board is gearing up for a large-scale national marketing campaign, with $30 million in BP money and millions more in federal dollars, to reassure restaurants and markets across the country that Gulf seafood is safe. For now, we have a choice. But what happens when all plants and trees are contaminated with genetically modified genes? What happens when we reach the saturation point? Food and water are things that we cannot live without. When all food is genetically modified and owned by the GM monopolies, where does that leave us?" Please give this your critical attention and decide if this is the direction you want the world to take. If you disagree with the monopolies shoving their false foods down our throats, isn't it essential that you make every dollar you spend count? My list of "Will Not Buy" is growing, it is the only peaceful way I know to change the direction we are headed.
